We got this tip from a friend who has used it and loves it, so why not give it a try? Making your own toothpaste is both easy and cheap, and you will know exactly what is going into your mouth.
INGREDIENTS:
– 1 cup baking soda
– 3 teaspoons glycerin
– 1/3 cup salt
– Flavouring for taste Flavouring for taste (peppermint oil, anise, cinnamon, wintergreen, etc.)
PREPARATION:
Mix the baking soda and salt together, then add the glycerin and mix thoroughly. Add your choice of flavouring for taste; five to ten drops works well. By experimenting with the recipe, you will find what suits you and your family best. Put your paste into a squeeze bottle and use as you would commercial toothpaste. You can also add a drop of food colouring to add a little colour. The amount of glycerin you add will control the “pastiness” of your toothpaste. A helpful hint: If you choose to go with cinnamon, use it sparingly!!!
