Thank You from Richard Kemp

I wish to thank all the anonymous donors of funds to my account. I know money is tight for you and your family with the rising costs of groceries and gasoline. Your thoughtfulness sustained me through some tough times and I am truly grateful someone cared enough to assist me.

The quality of the food at this institution took a turn for the worse after the first of this year, but what can you expect when they budget about $2.60 per man, per day? Can you even buy a Big Mac and fries at that price?

Anyways, there were many days I had to eat peanut butter and crackers or cereal out of my locker. Thanks to you I was not starving during a recent food strike at this institution where we were locked in our cells and fed bologna sandwiches for a few days.

I want you to know that I do not live extravagantly. I am frugal with money. The only real vice I have is that I enjoy a cup of coffee. I seldom drink sodas. I wear my shoes until the hubs rub and the wheels fall off. I do spend a lot on postage. I probably write twenty or thirty letter each week. I don’t always get that many in return. But that is a different story.

I just want you to know that I certainly appreciate all the contributions and I am grateful to the Folks who made it happen. I always try my damndest to be responsible and put the money to good use.

I hope you are able to see the photo’s of all our events held at this facility e.g. Yule and Summer Solstice celebrations, plus the Leif Erikson Day (Oct 9th) and Tartan Day (April 6th) events, each attended by over 100 inmates.

We enjoyed our twelve days of Yule so much that we recently published a Yule booklet where the proceeds go to the Raven Wolf Tribal Alliance c/o Adrienne Watson – PO Box 217 – Normal IL, 61761. The 70 plus page booklet is available for then dollars with postage paid. This booklet contains history, yuletide carols, suggested blotar and sumbels for the twelve days of Yule. It would make a great gift for someone on your list this holiday season.

The good news I wish to share is that I am supposed to go to the half way house by this time next year. This may be my final year of captivity. Keep your fingers crossed and I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks again. Know that I remain dedicated to the advancement of our Folk.
